On his 14th birthday, John bought his first guitar at a pawn shop. A succession of guitars followed, folk, classical, jazz arch-top, leading inevitably to the day when he decided to build his own guitar. It was, by his own admission, a failure as an instrument but a tremendous success in confirming his desire to build more guitars. Years, and many guitars, later, John now builds guitars that use traditional construction techniques but that are designed one at a time for each individual buyer. Still playing music, John enjoys coaxing just the right sound out of his guitars.
